Installation instructions for ArabTeX 3.08c

  1. Copy arabtex.zip (2185 KB) into an empty directory and unzip arabtex.zip:
    \emtex\unzip\unzip arabtex.zip
    Type in N and press Enter if the following message appears:
    replace arabtex/texinput/uheb.fd? [y]es, [n]o, [A]ll, [N]one, [r]ename:
  2. Read arabtex\doc\arabtex.faq for © information.
  3. Copy arabtex\tfm\*.tfm to \emtex\tfm
    Copy arabtex\mfinput\*.* to \emtex\mfinput
    Copy arabtex\texinput\*.* to \emtex\texinput
  4. Modify the file \emtex\texinput\hebtex.sty: uncomment the line
    \UsePackage {hecmd}
    by placing % in front of this line:
    %\UsePackage {hecmd}
  5. Print the ArabTeX manual arabtex\arabdoc.ps.
  6. Read the documentation in arabtex and arabtex\doc. The file arabtex\doc\hebrew.305 contains documentation for using Hebrew.
  7. Remove the directory arabtex.
  8. Copy vowels.zip (492 KB) into an empty directory and unzip vowels.zip:
    \emtex\unzip\unzip vowels.zip
  9. Read vowels\mf\inputs\dclassic.mf for © information.
  10. Copy vowels\tfm\dclassic.tfm to \emtex\tfm
    Copy vowels\mf\inputs\dclassic.mf to \emtex\mfinput
  11. Remove the directory vowels.
  12. Test the installation (enable Semitic languages with SEMITIC_LANGUAGES *Y). Typeset and Print:
